The Food Chain

Dear Parents,

Welcome again to our class blogspot. I hope you enjoyed the previous activities.

Our new lessons are over the food chain. The TEKS for this activity is §112.4. Science, Grade 2. The student is expected to compare and give examples of the ways living organisms depend on each other and on their environments.

The first activity I found for your child is alot of fun. It is from the science kids website. It is where your child identifies plants, animals, and insects. Then they identify which is higher in the food chain.

The second activity is called Fish Food. It is from Ranger Rick Magazine. It is where you are a small fish and you have to eat plants and smaller fish. You have to watch out for the big fish so they dont eat you because remeber you are at the bottom of the food chain!

The third activity is called Chain Reaction. Plants get their energy to grow from the sun. It also talks about what omnivores, carnivores, and herbivores are and what they do in the food chain.

I hope after these activities, your child will know more about the food chain and how it works.

Until next time, Ms. Kephart
